Uganda Peoples Congress

RESOLUTION OF THE UGANDA PEOPLE'S CONGRESS - UPC- IN SCANDINAVIA
HELD ON THE 31st DAY OF MARCH, 2001 IN STOCKHOLM- SWEDEN

Members of the Uganda Peoples Congress _UPC- in Scandinavia, meeting in Stockholm- Sweden on Saturday 31st March, 2001, have endorsed the stand of the UPC President, Dr. A. M. Obote; and that of the Chairman of the UPC Presidential Commission PPC on the recently conducted Presidential Election in Uganda.

It recalls that, both the Party President and the Chairman of the Presidential Commission PPC have dismissed the manner in which the elections were conducted as mere farce and only intended to dope Ugandans and the international community in believing that there is democracy in Uganda. These election results have proved that the whole exercise was just a mere window dressing.

The meeting observed that the earlier stand of the UPC not to participate in the on coming Presidential elections was a wise one and a clear proof that the Congress is truly a party of ideas and vision.

The meeting urged all Ugandans, especially members of the Uganda Law Society, to give the Electoral Petition, before the Ugandan Judiciary full assistance or support, to expose the criminal activities of the dictatorial regime in Kampala.

The Uganda Law Society should stand to be counted with the Uganda voters in protection of their legitimate constitutional rights in electing a leader of their choice.

The meeting hopes that, the judiciary will exercise its full constitution right to preside over the electoral petition without fear or favour.

The meeting regrets that the democratic western world, have constantly and persistently supported the primitive and antiquated One-party system, cum- monolithic military regime, which the senior Democratic nations have been consistently fighting elsewhere in the third world.
